Music For
The 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

This weekend Joan Martin is cantering for the 8:00AM Mass! This is a rare chance for those of you still attending Mass online to hear her sing and Pat McClure playing cello since they’re normally at the 4:30PM Mass on Saturday. I have attached two sets of lyrics for this weekend. For those of you wishing to have the words to the songs for the streamed Mass, please see this attachment. I’m sure all of these songs will be very familiar to you.

For those of you who want to print out the words for the songs for the 10:00AM Mass to take to church with you, you’ll find them in this attachment. I also have good news for those attending Mass at church and wanting to join in to the singing: We have purchased missals for the pews and they should be arriving this coming week or next.

This week the Gospel tells us the parable of the mustard seed and we’re celebrating the Feast of the Sacred Heart on Saturday, so the music I’ve chosen to share have been inspired by those two themes.

‘To Jesus’ Heart All Burning’ by the Singing Nuns

‘Make Our Hearts Like unto Yours’ by the Jesuit and Bukas Palad Music Ministries

‘Heart of Jesus Meek and Mild’ sung by Pauline Ramos

And now, on to the mustard seed! As you can probably guess, they’re all pretty upbeat.

‘Faith the Size of a Mustard Seed’

To make up for not having one last week, we have THREE toe-tappers this week:

‘A Little Faith’ by Riley Clemmons

‘Mustard Seed’ by Angie Rosener

‘Little Bitty Mustard Seed’ by the Kingdom Heirs

I hope you have a blessings-filled week ahead of you and that you enjoy all the music I’m sending your way.

EVENT PLANNING FOR 2021-2022

On Monday, June 14th at 10:00 am in the parish hall, we will be meeting to plan the events for the 2021-2022 year.  If you are on the parish ministries and organization list in the bulletin, the book club, the women’s retreat social, the wine tasting, or other groups that schedule events, please plan to attend.

If you cannot attend, and would like to put something on the calendar, please send someone to represent you or an email stating the event, a couple of dates and times you would like to schedule, along with the location.

As we begin to open the church for events we need to be sure we do not have any conflicts and schedule too many events in one month.

Sacred Heart’s June
Book Club Meeting Tomorrow
Date: Tuesday, June 8, 2021
Time: 10:30 AM
Location: Rectory

Good afternoon,

We will be meeting in the large living room in the rectory instead of the hall. You will enter through the rectory door and proceed all the way to the back. The spacious room looks new with comfortable furniture and wonderful lighting.

We will be discussing the Fisherman’s Tomb by John O’Neill. A true mystery about the search for Peter’s tomb. As always bring your thoughts on a book for July.

Kay has volunteered to bring treats to our face to face meeting. Thank you Kay! Please RSVP and I look forward to seeing everyone Tuesday morning at 10:30 AM!

Blessings,

This weekend Masses for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ are today at 4:30 PM and tomorrow at 8:00 AM,10:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Music For
The Feast of Corpus Christi

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

This week we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi. The music for Mass this week should be familiar to you with the possible exception of the second communion song, ‘Song of Remembrance’ that the choir has sung in the past, but which is not in our missal, Breaking Bread. Here is a link if you want to hear it with all its harmony parts: https://youtu.be/YZUAB34d0k4. The words to this song and all the rest for this Sunday at the 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM Masses can be found in this attachment.

As you might imagine, the songs I’m sharing with you this week all focus on the Body and Blood of Christ.

First are two Latin hymns:

‘Tantum Ergo Sacramentum’
(unattributed, but sounds like Kitty Cleveland)
https://youtu.be/INljg1sHyhg

‘Panis Angelicus’ (Franck) sung by Elina Garanča
https://youtu.be/5U9gIr5aIyU

Next we have two with the same very unimaginative title, but with beautiful lyrics and music:

‘Communion Song’ by Laura Kaczor
https://youtu.be/Ni75_U6xdlc

‘Communion Song’ by Ben David Trigg
https://youtu.be/tSpV3j7R3dw

Another pair of songs with that share a title, but have very different melodies:

‘In Remembrance of Me’ sung by the Treblemakers
https://youtu.be/fEf2vi9nsQA

‘In Remembrance of Me’ by Cheri Keaggy
https://youtu.be/WReXhV7MpI0

Sorry, no toe-tappers today, but the last two have a country feel to them:

‘Table of Grace’ by Phillips, Craig & Dean
https://youtu.be/gfJkJavuz-s

‘We Hunger and Thirst’ by Sovereign Grace
https://youtu.be/jq9i98gBL0A

I hope you enjoy them all. Have a great week! God bless.
