This week’s bulletin is here.

Also, we have brought in more shade coverings to give you additional protection from the warm California sun.

God bless you!

Dear Fellow Parishioners:

This week’s music is mostly familiar, but the communion hymn, Pan de Vida, may be new to some of you, so I’m including a link for it: https://youtu.be/lMnvpMrhXg0

The lyrics for this song and the other two can be found in this attachment.

This week’s Gospel is about a woman seeking healing from Jesus and while I couldn’t find a song about that miracle, I found this one about another woman seeking healing from Him; the one who touched the hem of his garment. “Christ Is Passing By” sung by Annie Karto: https://youtu.be/0gm1797Jq8c

Saturday should have been the Feast of the Assumption, but it was dispensed this year due to falling on Saturday, but I thought I would find some music to honor our Holy Mother. So here are a few options for you:

First one that is totally new to me:

“Ave Maria Angelus Domini” (Franz Biebl) by a virtual choir https://youtu.be/nP1ZCj7BNC0

The next is sung, surprisingly, by Eric Clapton, Luciano Pavarotti and the East London Gospel Choir. Now that’s an interesting team!

“Holy Mother” composed by Eric Clapton and Stephen Bishop https://youtu.be/x9uYu4R2nk8

And then to lighten the mood and brighten your day:
“Hail, Holy Queen” from the movie ‘Sister Act’

I haven’t seen that one for a long time!

I hope you enjoy them all. Please stay healthy and stay safe. God bless.

We Need a Catechist

As we look towards the new Religious Education year we are once again asking for a Catechist! Being a Catechist just means you are answering your baptismal call to ‘Build the Kingdom of God.’ You do not need to be an expert on theology just have a willing heart! We provide the program to use for each class session, so you just have read ahead. We encourage your own creative twist on each lesson if you like. We will be doing classes on zoom for about 30 minutes. I will be on every call to help with the technology, so do not worry about the technical issues. We will be online until it is deemed safe to meet in person once again. Please, pray about becoming a Catechist. I will be with you every step of the way. Being a Catechist is one of the most rewarding ways to give to God. Just think of all the cute kids’ faces and the decision to say yes is easy.

Fall Bible Study
“Rediscover the great sacraments of the Church in all their theological depth, spiritual effects, and pastoral promise.”

~Bishop Robert Barron

“The Sacraments will help you understand these signs and channels of grace and discover the secret behind their persistence down the ages: the presence and power of the Savior himself.”
~Bishop Robert Barron

This week’s bulletin is here.

God bless you!

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

The music for Mass this week is all pretty familiar but just in case you never heard our preparation song, “Sacred Silence,” here is a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8Ht7p7dLRU&feature=youtu.be

One of the composers, Jenny Pixler, was a parishioner here a few years back, and sang this with us at the women’s retreat. The lyrics to this song and the other two can be found in this attachment.

The first of the links I’m offering this week echoes this week’s Gospel:
“Jesus Walked on the Water” sung by Harmony Quartet https://youtu.be/SJ8Aokn4chc

The next is by another quartet, the Ball Brothers, singing “Sometimes He Calms the Storm” https://youtu.be/H8V43TbZBMw

And the last one is a truly joyful flash mob event with Hezekiah Walker. “Every Praise” https://youtu.be/UuuZMg6NVeA I hope it lifts your spirit as much as it did mine. I wanted to get up and dance and sing with them — and I’m no dancer!

God bless and keep you all.

This week’s bulletin is here.

God bless you!

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

This week’s music for Mass will be all very familiar to you, I’m sure. The lyrics are in this attachment.

This Sunday’s Gospel is about the loaves and fishes and I found the perfect song!

“Five Loaves and Two Fishes” by Corinne May https://youtu.be/AIsENvHx1nA

Then I came across a song sung by Tennessee Ernie Ford, one of my parents’ favorite singers, and I thought I would share it with you. Research done on the origins of this song trace it all the way back to 1780! Even Tennessee Ernie Ford wasn’t around back then!

“Wayfaring Stranger” https://youtu.be/pRhpHZ85Ozk

Then I saw there were quite a few versions available of this song. They’re all worth checking out, but I also really liked this version by Rhiannon Giddens. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1Z4PAZX9Bs

One more offering for you today: “Who Am I” by Casting Crowns https://youtu.be/mBcqria2wmg

I hope you all have a safe, healthy and blessed week.
