Dear Fellow Parishioners: I hope you’re all having a wonderful week and enjoying our beautiful weather. This week’s music is mostly well-known, but we haven’t sung the opening hymn, ‘Sing to the Mountains’, in a while so here is a link to hear it: https://youtu.be/evJkH1GhPk8 The lyrics to this and all the other songs can be found in this attachment. This week’s psalm is Psalm 23, whose response is usually “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want” but this week the response is “I shall live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.” Here is a more traditional version but sung by one of those amazing people that can sing all the parts without accompaniment! ‘The Lord’s My Shepherd; I Shall Not Want’ https://youtu.be/lTHr9UcvWko The Gospel this week is about a king who was giving a wedding banquet for his son. When the invited guests wouldn’t come, the king sent his servants out to invite anyone they could find. I found two songs about this parable. The first one is called ‘The Wedding Banquet’ by Rain for Roots. https://youtu.be/hv8ojKvo1pI If you click on where it says “show more” you’ll find the lyrics. The second is ‘I Cannot Come’ and there are two versions, one that just shows the lyrics https://youtu.be/tW_vdsU_Bb8 and the other has a very cleverly done Lego video https://youtu.be/eM2yO22rSE4. Take your pick: boring presentation or cute. Both are sung by the same group. The last piece I want to share with you is a wonderful rendition of today’s closing hymn, ‘How Can I Keep from Singing?’ by the NYC Virtual Choir and Orchestra. https://youtu.be/VLPP3XmYxXg I hope you find joy in them all. God bless and keep you safe. Janis Cantú |

Dear Fellow Parishioners, This week’s music is all very well known by the congregation and you can find the lyrics in this attachment. Three out of four of this week’s readings deal with vineyards of the Lord so the first song I’m going to share with you is my favorite setting of this week’s psalm, ‘Psalm 80: The Vineyard of the Lord Is the House of Israel’ composed by Kevin Keil https://youtu.be/TOFGZLUVbEI My next two music choices are inspired by the Gospel this week in which Jesus tells the parable about the vineyard in which the workers kill the owner’s son, and recalls to his listeners the scripture verses about the “stone that the builders rejected.” ‘The Stone That the Builders Rejected’ performed by a school choir https://youtu.be/jjf0KBf-qwo?t=15 ‘Ten Thousand Angels Cried’ by the Heritage Singers https://youtu.be/p9UB9rVHv5c The next two songs I chose thinking of the many people across our state, our country and the world who are dealing with so many losses and obstacles right now. ‘Praying with a Broken Heart’ by Sarah Hart. https://youtu.be/Q6UooFJdNuQ and one that’s more upbeat: God bless you all and keep you safe, Janis Cantú |

Dear Fellow Parishioners: This week’s lyrics can be found in this attachment. We haven’t sung the opening hymn in a while so here’s a link in case you want to hear it before Mass: ‘Though Mountains May Fall’ https://youtu.be/q7Q1duW7Pvk. My first musical sharing of the week is a beautiful song about the enormity of God’s love for us and how that love can humble us: ‘Your Grace Still Amazes Me’ by Phillips, Craig and Dean. https://youtu.be/fXVUYC_ykwE The next two songs are about how God is with us even at our lowest moments: and ‘You Are My Hiding Place’ by Selah https://youtu.be/uUx2WcC9JKo And lastly, a beautiful version of ‘How Great Thou Art’ sung by by Home Free, https://youtu.be/tXQpDDcrN-w As always, I hope you enjoy them all. May God bless you and keep you safe always. Janis Cantú |
