Food Truck Party! That’s right, it’s a party and a food truck in the middle of July at Scared Heart! Our program begins next Monday and goes through Friday from 9:00 am through – 12:00 noon. This program invites children of all ages to get on a roll with God as a parade of Food Trucks rolls into their neighborhood for the summer’s biggest party! Using Matthew 6:11; “Give us this day our daily bread”, children are invited to pray as Jesus teaches. These words serve as a reminder that everything we have comes from God – and our daily needs are met by God. Through stories in both the Old and New Testaments, this VBS opens kids’ eyes to the countless ways God provides, loves, and cares for us while inviting them to join God in providing, loving, and caring for others. The goal of Food Truck Party is to help children build on the practice of using daily prayer to turn to God for their needs – and also to serve as the hands of God in ensuring that the needs of others are met. Our program is curated for kids 4 years old to 11 years old. Kids 12 years old and older can participate as team leaders and helpers. VBS will be July 17th-July 21st we will be opening up 8:40am for early drop off but the program will begin at 9am and end at 12pm. On Friday at noon we will have a Mass for all the kids and family members to attend, so that everyone can feel the VBS magic! This cost for VBS will be $60 per child. Come to Mass this Sunday and Meet Sacred Heart’s New Pastor Fr. Billy will be saying all of the Masses this weekend on Saturday (4:30 pm) and Sunday (8:00 am, 10:00 am and 5:00 pm). Join us and hear the wonderful words our pastor has to say this weekend and help us show Fr. Billy that we are a Parish Built on Love. On Sunday July 23rd we will have a welcome reception for Fr. Billy after the 8:00 am and 10:00am Masses in the parish hall. A message from Fr. Billy: “Hello Sacred Heart! It is an honor to join the wonderful community here at Sacred Heart, as well as the wider Ocean Beach community! My name is Fr Billy Zondler, and I am honored to be assigned by Cardinal McElroy to serve you as pastor. I grew up all over North County San Diego, went to High School at San Dieguito Academy, spent time at UCSB, Franciscan University, and Portland in Oregon. I was previously assigned as associate pastor at the historical Mission San Diego de Alcalá and St Marks in San Marcos. I am truly grateful to all the communities that I have been a part of and am excited to join another amazing community here in OB! I look forward to growing together, to getting to know one another, and to continue to allow Jesus in the Eucharist to inspire us as a community in loving service to one another and the people of Ocean Beach” |
