Here are the links to the letter Cardinal McElroy has written and a FAQ sheet that Cardinal McElroy in collaboration with the lawyers working with the Diocese of San Diego have put together regarding the Diocese upcoming filing of chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Using Cardinal McElroy’s words this decision is to justly compensate the survivors of abuse, while also continuing the Church’s mission of education, pastoral service, and outreach to the poor and marginalized. It is also important to note that it is the Diocese of San Diego that is filing bankruptcy and not the parishes, schools, or Catholic Charities. |
