Music For
The Feast of the Holy Trinity

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

You may have heard that the congregation is now allowed to sing during Mass, albeit with their masks on. This has introduced a little hiccup: most people do not have the hymnal and we don’t have any in the pews because of Covid restrictions set by the diocese. We are looking into ways to solve the problem, but in the meantime, I will be posting the lyrics for both the 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM Masses so that people interested in singing at the morning Masses can either print the lyrics or look it up on their phone if they’re on the parish email list. This week the songs are the same, but some weeks they may be different. The attachments will be labeled as is the one today. Please pass this information on to friends and family in the parish. If people find this helpful, I can see about posting the lyrics for the 4:30 PM Mass as well.

This week we are celebrating the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity and our music choices reflect that. The opening song for Mass is a new take on an old hymn, ‘Holy, Holy, Holy’. The words are exactly the same but the tune is different. You can have a preview of the tune here: https://youtu.be/26mHAPDKd1s. As always, the words for this and all the other songs can be found in this attachment. For Memorial Day, we are ending with the Navy hymn, ‘Eternal Father, Strong to Save’.

First we have a couple of different takes on the traditional tune, ‘Holy, Holy, Holy.’ The first is a modern rendition by Audrey Assad

Next an a cappella version by Harvest Church

There are so many versions of that song out there, you could do a study on it!

Take a trip down that rabbit hole! It inspires me to try one of them next year with the choir.

‘Glory Be’ composed by Mark David Girardin and performed by the Girardin Family

That’s it for this week. Happy Memorial Day and a special thanks to all of you veterans out there. Enjoy the music and the long weekend!
