Della Greenwell Drive-By
To keep you from wandering around San Diego looking for Graner Street in Yonkers, New York… You’ll find the Della Greenwell drive-by this Wednesday at 4554 Granger Street right here in the 92107. Disregard the address below but not the drive-by birthday or the cupcakes. Sorry for the error!

When Jesus was transfigured before his disciples’ eyes, he stood before them. Now that he has risen from the dead his resurrected presence is within them! This is not something that comes as the result of a request, it is simply a gift.
Each week we will be sharing a reflection on the Sunday readings at Mass, provied by the publishers of our bulletin.

Palm Sunday of the Passion of our Lord
Overflow – Outside Viewing of Mass

The triumphant arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem is how we’d like to remember our Savior. Everything came crashing down as the week of Passover unfolded. Will I stand by our Lord, or walk away in fear? Mass is this afternoon at 4:30PM and tomorrow at 8:00AM, 10:00AM and 5:00PM. If Mass reaches capacity in the church, seating and a video monitor are setup outside on the patio.

Mass will be streamed live at 8:00 AM tomorrow morning at this link on the Sacred Heart YouTube channel:

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

We have reached Palm Sunday and that brings us to the beginning of Holy Week. The songs that you will hear during this Sunday’s mass are all ones we’ve done before and you can find their lyrics in this attachment.

Faithful Cross we have only sung during Holy Week and since offertory is so short these days I wanted to give you the opportunity to hear the whole song, so I’m providing a link for you: https://youtu.be/RvBQ7yx2zAw.

The first song I want to share with you today is new version of the psalm for today, ‘My God, My God’ by Francesca La Rosa https://youtu.be/m3YNrluAXHA

The others will take you from his triumphal entry through the passion.

‘Hosanna to the Son’ by Alan Pote https://youtu.be/K0thOWyTBHE

‘Hosanna to the Son of David’ by the Benedictines of Mary, Queen of Apostles https://youtu.be/cnR103-WiVc

‘Jerusalem’ by City of Enoch https://youtu.be/yGbSgdim6fo

‘The Song of Peter’s Denial’ by Ryan Brown https://youtu.be/wb0Y6NSSqEM

‘Rise Again’ by Dallas Holm https://youtu.be/dU6P0QZM5LE

Have a blessed Holy week and enjoy the music! More will be coming later in the week.

God bless you all,
Janis Cantú

Wednesday, March 24th – Fr. Tom Kiely

We will still have Saturday Confessions
from 3:15 – 4:00 pm

Lent is a wonderful opportunity to be made new and united to God’s grace for all we face in our daily lives. Please consider this gift of God’s healing hand and renewing our soul.

The inconvenience, discomfort, sadness, and pain we may feel if we open our hearts and pay attention to what is happening in and to the world around us are the only real antidote to indifference, because those feelings should call us to action.
Each week we will be sharing a reflection on the Sunday readings at Mass, provided by the publishers of our bulletin.

Fifth Sunday of Lent
Overflow – Outside Viewing of Mass

Lent is almost at an end. Mass is celebrated today at 4:30 PM and three times tomorrow at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. A reminder that this afternoon’s Mass will be attended by those attending the Confirmation Retreat. There are about 40 teens on the retreat, as well as adult core team members. Based on our limits during COVID, in addition to normal attendees of this Mass, we are expecting a full house. We will still be social distancing and wearing masks, it will just be Mass filled to capacity in accordance with the numbers we are restricted to. Seating will be available outside for viewing Mass on a video monitor.

Mass will be streamed live at 8:00 AM tomorrow morning at this link on the Sacred Heart YouTube channel:

God bless you!

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

Lent is fast approaching its climax. Next week will be Palm Sunday, followed by Holy Week. There’s nothing new in the music for this week’s Mass although ‘Glory in the Cross’ is less well-known than the others. https://youtu.be/Tn3nrZJ8SIc. The words for this song and all the others can be found in this attachment.

This week once again there are two sets of readings, the ones we will use at the Mass you will see streaming and those we will use at 5:00 PM on Sunday for the RCIA scrutiny Mass. Like last week, the songs I’m sharing this week are inspired by both.

‘Create in Me’ by The Acappella Company https://youtu.be/noUeQQ64Q1I

‘Heart of a Servant’ by City Harvest Church https://youtu.be/AAuSBQEn8U4

In the Gospel, Jesus talks about how he must follow the Father’s will just like we must do, which put the next song in mind. ‘Keep Me in Your Will’ by Jessica King  https://youtu.be/Hkc91ZhgIlU

The Gospel for the RCIA Mass was about the raising of Lazarus from the dead and there are many songs out there that include his story. Not surprising I suppose, since like Lazarus, we’re all counting on Jesus to raise us as well. There are so many wonderful songs! I could have put more…

‘Jesus, Gentle Healer’ sung by Voices for Christ https://youtu.be/p-cWW6NPo7A

‘Rise Up’ by CAIN https://youtu.be/7RQk2xtTXKY

‘You Came’ by Bethel Music https://youtu.be/f7NdBVTtvcg

‘Four Days Late’ by Juanita du Plessis https://youtu.be/Jll_wBYJmbA

‘My Name Is Lazarus’ by Gaither Music https://youtu.be/PNsLT1BxUto This last one should get your toe tapping. I do like to leave you with an upbeat song!

I hope you all have a wonderful and blessed week. God bless and keep you.

NEW SOCKS FOR HOLY THURSDAY

This year at Holy Thursday Mass, April 1st at 7:00PM, we will not be washing each other’s feet. Instead of this beautiful tradition we will be collecting new socks for our unsheltered brothers and sisters. Please drop them off in the box in the back of the church.
