Music For The
22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

This week I got a surprise: We’re streaming the 4:30 Mass on Saturday so you get to hear Pat McClure playing her cello! We will also be doing a couple of songs that were new to me: ‘Gather Your People’  https://youtu.be/VR0GYENFQQ4 and ‘All Good Gifts’  https://youtu.be/XCK9nd1Ndqw. The words to these and all the songs can be found in this attachment.

The songs I chose this week are inspired by this week’s First and Second Readings.

Enjoy the music and have a wonderful week!

Our Fall Bible Series starts September 8th, 2021!

We will be using Ascension Press Series “Revelation: The Kingdom Yet to Come.” This 11 week study goes over the book of Revelations. To do this class you will need to pay and create an account with Ascension Press with the link below. For just $29.95 plus shipping you will get access to the series videos for a year, a study book and an online workbook. You will have homework each week to read the assigned readings in Revelation and a 55 minute video to watch. On Wednesday we will discussed what we have learned and keep each other accountable for the readings!

We have two options to join the Bible Study Wednesday afternoons in person at 1pm in the Alley Cottage or Wednesday nights on Zoom at 7pm.

Ascensions Press Description of the Study:

“Perhaps no book of the Bible fascinates people more than Revelation. Yet relatively few people have studied it, especially from a Catholic perspective. Revelation: The Kingdom Yet to Come is an intriguing eleven-session study program that shows how the kingdom established by Christ in his Church is intimately connected with the kingdom of heaven. In this study, presenter Jeff Cavins pulls back the veil on the rich symbolism present in Revelation. Discover what the mysterious figures and images of Revelation mean and see how Revelation is more than an apocalyptic vision of the “end times.” Explore the Church’s teaching on the second coming of Christ and the Last Judgment. Understand how God, the Divine Bridegroom, and the Church, his spotless bride, enter into a heavenly, holy, and mystical marriage every time we celebrate Mass.”

Class Dates: Wednesdays (September 8-December 15)

Music For The
21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

We’re not singing any new music at Mass this week, but you can find all the words to these familiar songs in this attachment.

This week in the Gospel, many disciples found what Jesus said to be hard to accept and Jesus asked the apostles if they were going to leave him, too. Peter replied, “Lord, to whom should we go? You have the words of everlasting life.” The following music selections are primarily based on this text.

Enjoy the music! Stay healthy and may God bless you with all good things.

Music For The
Assumption Of The Blessed Virgin Mary

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

The music for Mass is all familiar to you, with the communion song, Take and Eat, being the least known, but we introduced it a couple of weeks ago. The words to that song and all the others can be found in this attachment.

This week we’re celebrating the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, so I’m sure you can guess the theme of this week’s music selections!

Next I have a couple of international videos singing (and dancing) in praise of the Blessed Virgin:

  • For you Spanish speakers, ‘Ven y Reina’ (Come and Reign) by Canto Católico https://youtu.be/pGj5vlrpFDc Sadly, this song does not have an English translation available, but it asks Mary to come and reign in our hearts for the Lord to reign.
  • ‘Holy Mary, Mother of Mine’ with a dance by the Ursuline Sisters of the Holy Rosary Convent in Bangalore, India https://youtu.be/A5QMN3HUp_4 (I found quite a few religious videos from India with dance.
  • This last one brings us back home with a country western sound: ‘Let it be done unto me’ by Danielle Rose https://youtu.be/8NUMgb_svxs

That’s it for this week. I hope you enjoy the music and have a fabulous week full of God’s blessings.
