Our Fall Bible Series starts Tomorrow! We will be using Ascension Press Series “Revelation: The Kingdom Yet to Come.” This 11 week study goes over the book of Revelations. To do this class you will need to pay and create an account with Ascension Press with the link below. For just $29.95 plus shipping you will get access to the series videos for a year, a study book and an online workbook. You will have homework each week to read the assigned readings in Revelation and a 55 minute video to watch. On Wednesday we will discussed what we have learned and keep each other accountable for the readings! We have two options to join the Bible Study Wednesday afternoons in person at 1pm in the Alley Cottage or Wednesday nights on Zoom at 7pm. Ascensions Press Description of the Study: “Perhaps no book of the Bible fascinates people more than Revelation. Yet relatively few people have studied it, especially from a Catholic perspective. Revelation: The Kingdom Yet to Come is an intriguing eleven-session study program that shows how the kingdom established by Christ in his Church is intimately connected with the kingdom of heaven. In this study, presenter Jeff Cavins pulls back the veil on the rich symbolism present in Revelation. Discover what the mysterious figures and images of Revelation mean and see how Revelation is more than an apocalyptic vision of the “end times.” Explore the Church’s teaching on the second coming of Christ and the Last Judgment. Understand how God, the Divine Bridegroom, and the Church, his spotless bride, enter into a heavenly, holy, and mystical marriage every time we celebrate Mass.” Class Dates: Wednesdays (September 8-December 15) Wednesday September 8 Link to Ascension Press to buy the Bible Study Please purchase a week ahead of time to allow more than enough time for shipping! Understanding Faithful Discipleship

By telling us to “take up” our cross, Jesus isn’t saying that we have to meekly submit to unfair treatment and suffering or embrace a blind, “offer it up” sort of spirituality. And, while they may be opportunities for grace, illness, sad events or even disasters aren’t “the cross.”

Dear Fellow Parishioners, This week we have a new song for communion called ‘Come to Me and Drink’ by Bob Hurd. Here’s a link for you to hear it beforehand if you want to sing it with us: The words to this song and all the others can be found in this attachment. Today’s first reading tells us to fear not because God comes to save us and inspired the first three of today’s selections:
The psalm’s refrain, ‘Praise the Lord, my soul’ inspired the next two songs.
And in this week’s Gospel, Jesus heals a deaf man who then tells everyone.
I hope you enjoy this week’s selections and that you have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend. God bless and keep you. Janis Cantú |
Hello Parents & Teens, Registration is open for confirmation! You will be able to register until October 1st and then the first session will be held on Wednesday, October 6th. Click here to register! The diocese has made it a requirement for all confirmation programs to now be two year programs. In light of this, the first year of this program will be primarily academic and take place in the classroom. The second year of the program will be service oriented. Students will no longer be required to attend the Wednesday night sessions. They will instead learn to use their God-given, inherent gifts to serve the parish community. I am very excited to begin our classes and I look forward to building up a community of young people on fire for their faith here at Sacred Heart! Sincerely, Jonas Brand Class Schedule Registration Fee Please pay for the registration online at our Online Giving Platform. Under funds, scroll down and choose “ROC Teen Confirmation Registration” and under amount put $310. Jesus Healed Me! Let Me Tell You All About It!
written by Douglas Sousa, STL

Those whom Jesus heals cannot help but go around telling everyone they meet about the powerful prophet who restored them to health. For them, telling the story of Jesus’ healing power is part of the healing process itself.
