Act of Consecration

At the request of Pope Francis and our local Bishops, we will come together in prayer for the consecration of humanity, and Russia and Ukraine in particular, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary at the end of our Friday, March 25th Mass. For those of you who cannot share with us at this time, you are welcome to pray on your own at 10:30 am with Pope Francis or sometime during your day.

Please see this letter from Pope Francis and the Act of Consecration Prayer.

Sacred Heart Synod
Please Be A Part Of It!!
Spring Your Clocks Forward

First… Move your clocks forward 1 hour this Sunday morning!!!

You’ve been hearing about the Synod and that Pope Francis has directed the Church to assemble her people around the world. With joy we unite with Catholics in discerning our path towards becoming a “synodal” Church, one that journeys with its faithful, listens to their concerns, and promotes their participation into the fullness of the Church.

We are are happy to have heard from some of you but not enough people have responded. If you don’t feel that you have been asked… you are. We need you!

Our Parish will facilitate three synodal gatherings in March and we ask you to participate in one of the sessions.

The dates are:

  • Tuesday, March 15 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 19, 9:00 a.m. – noon,
    and 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Reserve your time through this link.

For further information on the Synod and its purpose, please visit the Diocese website.

As we are preparing for our participation in the Church’s historic Synod, we also need facilitators and scribes. We will need approximately 10 facilitators and 10 scribes (for high school students who serve as scribes and in need of service hours, I give double). Facilitators and scribes will not have to serve all three sessions.

For information on being a facilitator or scribe there is info on the Diocese website here.

If you are interested assisting as a facilitator or scribe for the Synod, please contact me at Jackhamlin55@gmail.com.

Thank you!

Special Collection for Ukraine Crisis

Bishop McElroy and all the bishops of the United States are inviting all the faithful to contribute to a fund that will provide assistance to the victims of war in Ukraine. Our contributions, which are an expression of solidarity with the people of Ukraine, will assist the Church’s pastoral response and provide resources for humanitarian assistance.

Sacred Heart Church of OB will join with every parish community in the United States and designate a special collection for the people of the Ukraine this weekend, March 5 and 6. Please use the special envelopes marked “2022 Ukraine Crisis” in the bulletin and return them next week. Please make checks payable to “Sacred Heart Church.”

Please continue to pray for the Ukrainian people.

Pray that all nations may repent for aggression and violence that have brought pain and suffering to innocent people and work toward a just and lasting peace to the benefit of all, especially the Ukrainian people during this time, let us pray to the Lord.

Sacred Heart Synod

Blessings –

“Synod” is defined as an assembly of the clergy and sometimes also the laity in a diocese or other division of a particular Church… That is, until now.

Pope Francis has directed the Church to assemble her people for a global synod. With joy we unite with Catholics worldwide in discerning our path towards becoming a “synodal” Church, one that journeys with its faithful, listens to their concerns, and promotes their participation into the fullness of the Church.
