The Letter: A Film Screening
This Saturday at 5:30 PM
Parish Hall
Celebrate Earth Day! Join us to see the film, “The Letter.” In 2015, Pope Francis wrote Laudato Si’ (The Letter); an encyclical letter about the environmental crisis to every single person in the world. A few years later, four voices that have gone unheard in global conversations have been invited to an unprecedented dialogue with the Pope. Hailing from Senegal, the Amazon, India, and Hawaii, they bring perspective and solutions from the poor, the indigenous, the youth, and wildlife into a conversation with Pope Francis himself. This documentary follows their journey to Rome and the extraordinary experiences that took place there, and is packed with powerfully moving personal stories alongside the latest information about the planetary crisis and the toll it’s taking on nature and people. Because, in the words of the Laudato Si’ Movement chair Lorna Gold, “once you know, you CANNOT look away.” #LaudatoSiFilm The film, which was produced by Oscar-winning producers “My Octopus Teacher” and the Catholic nonprofit Laudato Si’ Movement in collaboration with the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communication and Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, has been watched by over 8 million people to date via YouTube. A Creation Care Team Event Light Refreshments will be served |

Knights of Columbus Breakfast
Join the Knights of Columbus for breakfast on Sunday after the morning Masses. They will be honoring a unique tradition with what they are serving up.
Tradition of Pax Cakes On Palm Sunday (the Sunday before Good Friday), in some parts of England, small cakes are handed out by the vicar to his congregation as they leave church. The cakes are called pax cakes (from the Latin for ‘peace’, pax). The custom goes back to at least the 16th century, when cakes and ale were given out during morning service and eaten and drunk in the church, to promote neighbourliness and good feeling at Easter… Sorry to disappoint, but there will be no ale handed out after Mass. Palm Sunday also has the nick name ‘Fig Sunday’ because Christ had wanted to eat some when travelling to Jerusalem. Figs were once traditionally eaten on this day. |
