Knights of Columbus Breakfast
Join the Knights of Columbus for breakfast on Sunday after the morning Masses. They will be honoring a unique tradition with what they are serving up.

Tradition of Pax Cakes

On Palm Sunday (the Sunday before Good Friday), in some parts of England, small cakes are handed out by the vicar to his congregation as they leave church. The cakes are called pax cakes (from the Latin for ‘peace’, pax). The custom goes back to at least the 16th century, when cakes and ale were given out during morning service and eaten and drunk in the church, to promote neighbourliness and good feeling at Easter… Sorry to disappoint, but there will be no ale handed out after Mass.

Palm Sunday also has the nick name ‘Fig Sunday’ because Christ had wanted to eat some when travelling to Jerusalem. Figs were once traditionally eaten on this day.

Critical Need For
– Eucharistic Ministers –

In light of the decision to offer the cup during the Liturgy of the Eucharist during all Masses beginning Holy Thursday, we are in desperate need of additional Eucharistic Ministers!!

We will require three Eucharist Ministers for each Mass: one for distribution of the Eucharist and two for offering of the cups.  This applies to all Saturday Masses & three Sunday Masses each month (only two Ministers needed for the Masses in which Deacon Mark participates).

The Parish needs you!  If you are interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister, please contact Teofla Rich @ 619.758.0943. Arrangements will be made for a training session at the Parish for those that respond. Holy Thursday is quickly approaching!!

With gratitude for your consideration,

Teofla Rich
