Dear Fellow Parishioners, Happy Ascension Sunday! This week’s readings tell us about Jesus going up into heaven to sit at the right hand of God after telling the disciples to go out and proclaim the Gospel to the whole world. The only song for Mass that’s truly new is our opening hymn, ‘The Risen Christ’ https://youtu.be/h5LYpJEcyso. We’ll be singing just the first and third verses, so if you listen to the link you’ll notice something missing. I’ve provided the words to those verses and all the other songs in this attachment. I’ve included some old (some very old) songs and some new in my songs to share this week. I hope you enjoy them! ‘Hail the Day that Sees Him Rise’ St. Alban’s Choir ‘Ascendit Deus’ Schola Cantorum Of Amsterdam Students ‘Ascension Song’ by John Hardwick ‘Go and Tell Everyone’ by Quo Vadis Choir for the 200th Anniversary of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate As a reflection on the psalm, we have three songs about his majesty: ‘There Is a Higher Throne’ by Keith and Kristyn Getty ‘We Will Glorify’ by Twila Paris ‘We Bow Down’ by Twila Paris And I saved the toe-tapper for last: ‘Ye Men of Galilee’ by the Isaacs Have a beautiful and blessed week.
